The new trends in the development of electric vehicles

The electric vehicle industry is witnessing a progressive growth and transition of the ICE car customers to its services. Some of the initiatives championing this growth include the upcoming Daimler Trucks North America program, which will evaluate the electric vehicles’ performance on both the busy and clear roads. Some of the firms that will be participating in this program include Schneider National Inc.

Schneider will be evaluating the performance of the eCascadia EV tractor to assess the adjustments that can be made on the batteries before it can hit the market. Schneider has the responsibility of analyzing and recommending the fleet mechanisms and the suitable location at points where charging facilities can be erected. This move will inform the installation of the stations at strategic corridors to ensure minimal work stoppage.

The recommendations and inferences will then be submissible to Freightliner, which will, in turn, modify the next batch of electric vehicles before they can enter the market. Schneider will collaborate with Volvo LIGHTS to test these eCascadia trucks in North America since this firm has the authority to develop charging infrastructure in this region.

This strategy is in line with the Volvo LIGHTS project of launching heavy electric trucks and machinery into the American market by mass production. Volvo LIGHTS’ contribution to the absorption of the electric vehicles into the American market is also visible in it, offering the fleet developers strategies to design charging stations for standard rates. Volvo states that the German firm REMA EV Connections has won contracts to sell its CCS2 connectors in the US. These connectors have been in use through the European market, and their subsequent introduction into the US will help realize substantial uptake of electric vehicles that utilize this facility in the country.

Keith Brandis of the Volvo Group articulated that the American government’s authorization of these CCS2 connectors will help the EV fleet operators in the country develop facilities that provide this service since it is affordable. These charging connectors will help recharge the fleet of electric vehicles at a supersonic speed minimizing the time spend by EV owners to queue for the charging services.

Another upcoming trend that will transform the EV industry is Cummins Inc. Concept of availing hydrogen-generating equipment to the public facilities. This company conceptualizes the generation of hydrogen from renewables. Cummins has been researching how hydrogen and fuel cells are usable in running trucks, trains, and buses in Columbus’s facility. To sum up, the hydrogen produced will then be stored in electron guns as fuel for use in explicitly designed trucks. This technology will inform a reduction in the overall emissions of these trucks.
